Thank you for visiting. I work as a natural history artist and science illustrator from my home in McCarthy, Alaska. See a selection of my work below.
I enjoy making work about the natural world that isn't quite "science illustration". This work includes drawings, paintings, cyanotype prints, and other mixed media. It is my venue for exploring our relationship with the natural world and diving into the subjects that are of deep interest to me. I also am happy to create commissions for others.
I create visuals that explain a process or a place. From pop-up books for children, interpretive signs, coloring books, and other educational materials, I have experience creating engaging, one-of-a-kind visuals. Here you will find a selection of projects that I have worked on, as well as portfolios of black and white, color, and digital work. Further information and professional recommendations are available upon request.

I am so honored to get to share this body of work alongside artists John Hagan and Michael Walsh at the Bunnell Street Arts Center in October. Bunnell did a really nice job documenting the exhibit for others to experience and I wanted to share those resources and a few of my thoughts and photos with you here.
On Friday, Fairbanks artist, Somer Hahm, and I are going to give a talk about our work in the exhibit for members of the Anchorage Museum. I’m excited to share more about my cyanotype process and inspiration for this recent body of work.
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of talking with Bethan Burton for her Journaling with Nature Podcast. Bethan talks with artists from all over the world (she lives in Australia) about nature journaling and how it fits into their broader practice, as artists scientists and as people.
In October I started keeping a nature journal. I share my process, journal pages, and why this is exciting for me.
I created a mini one-page zine about Edible Flowers in June for my Patreon supporters but I also wanted to share it more widely. Learning to Know Plants: This is something I am passionate about because it has been meaningful to me. During my childhood, I was a nature nerd who loved spending time in gardens and forests.
In this post, I share a short video on making wet-on-wet swatches in your sketchbook. I also share the inspiration behind me making such pages and discuss the idea of building a visual vocabulary.
I love this time of year! If you’ve followed me for a bit you know I love walking through the forest in the spring and find all the different blooms. To celebrate I put together two coloring pages, featuring two of my favorite orchids from the McCarthy area, the Calypso Orchid who will be gracing us soon with pink clusters in the forest; and the Mountain Lady Slipper, which is much less common but quite stunning.
